Bookable on arrival.\n\n\nLearn about the secret system that was put in place during the Cold War era that enabled a select few to survive a nuclear strike.\n\n\nCome and join our friendly and knowledgeable team of volunteers for a unique insight into how this much-loved Victorian fort was secretly utilised as a local authority emergency centre during the latter part of the Cold War. \n\n\n\nThe Barbican \n\nThis year, the Fort’s Barbican has reopened to the public. Come and explore how this hidden structure was crucial for defending the Fort’s entrance during a land siege. \n\n\n\nThe Water Tank\n\nEarlier this year, work was completed on reopening the Fort’s Water Tank for daily visits.\nAre you brave enough to stand on the jetty and test how your voice echoes? \n\n\n\nArtillery Demonstrations\n\nWatch afternoon Artillery demonstrations with the Nothe Fort Garrison Dorsetshire Regiment. \n\n\nAdmission Information\n\nFor Heritage Open Day, entry to the Fort is FREE. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
