DESCRIPTION:Photo Credit: Paul Brewer \n \nExplore Weymouth’s role in World War II this February Half Term! \nSaturday 14 – Sunday 22 February\n10am – 4pm\nJoin us at the Fort as we travel back to the World War II era!\nCome along and collect your job stamps as you experience what life was like during WWII.\nComplete the wartime activities and collect job stamps as you find out all about WWII at the Fort! \nActivities include:\n\n• Soldier School | Mon 16, Wed 18, Fri 2o Feb only\nLearn how to march in a drill conducted by the young re-enactors of the WW2 Garrison.\n• Caving Adventure by South Coast Adventures\nDATE CHANGE: Thursday 19th and Friday 20th February only\n• Junior Assault Course Training\nTest your agility and strength on the assault course, inspired by the rigorous training faced by soldiers during WWII.\n• Friend or Foe Plane Spotting\nHelp us identify enemy planes with the Friend or Foe game.\n• Motorbike Dispatch Rider\nSee what it would have been like on a Dispatch Rider’s motorcycle.\n• Anti-Aircraft Gun Operator\nStep into the shoes of an anti-aircraft gun operator and defend the skies.\n• Make and Take Plane Craft – daily between 11am – 3pm\nMake and decorate your own miniature bi-plane to take home\n• Binoculars Factory Craft\nMake your own pair of binoculars for lookout duty around the Fort.\n• ARP Warden & Fire Warden (dates to be confirmed)\nLearn about the vital roles played by ARP and Fire Wardens in safeguarding communities during air raids.\n• Signal Light Operator\nSignal lights were used to defend against night-time bomber raids. See how it works!\n• Lookout Duty\nUse the binoculars to see enemy ships and use the rangefinder to work out their distance.\n• Machine Gun Operator\nDefend the Fort using the Machine Gun!\n• Spigot Mortar Operator\nDefend the Fort using the Spigot Mortar! These were intended as a means to equip the Home Guard in case of invasion!\n• Communications Operator\nDuring World War II, the military needed to send messages as quickly as possible. Have a go at Morse Code\n• World War II Mouse Hunt!\nKeep an eye out for themed mice characters hidden around the Fort!\n\n\nMore to be announced! \n\n\nThis event is covered by your Annual Pass/General Admission ticket price. We ask that all dogs remain on short leads at all times.
