100th Anniversary Armistice Day
100 Beacon Lighting Event Nothe Fort 6pm – 7.30pm (Beacon lighting 7pm) Open to the public (free entry)
On Sunday 11th Anniversary of WW 1, known nationally as the `Battles Over’.
The Weymouth event will take place at the Nothe Fort, free entry to the public, event starts at 6pm with the Beacon Lighting at 7pm.
The event will feature performances from the Bovington Military Wives Choir and the popular Decadettes with the service being conducted by the Rev Cannon Andrew Gough.
The evening will be hosted by the Mayor of Weymouth and PortlandCllr Gill Taylor, joined by many local associations, standard bearers and members of the public.
Mayor of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council said “I would like to extend a warm welcome to everybody attending this important commemoration, a time to reflect and remember those who sacrificed so much. My thanks go to the Nothe Fort team for hosting the event and the Bovington Military Wives Choir and Decadettes for their support”.
This event will encompass elements of the traditional Remembrance Service normally held at Holy Trinity Church.
