The WW2 Garrison are bringing wartime history to life at the Fort!
Throughout the day from 10am – 4pm, the WW2 Garrison Living History group will showcase the authentic duties carried out by the soldiers stationed at Nothe Fort during the Second World War. Learn about the daily life of a wartime garrison.
Featuring:
- Parade Ground marching drills
Watch the Garrison practice their marching drills in the Fort’s Parade Ground - Guard Duty
Keep a look-out for soldiers stationed around the Fort – a perfect photo opportunity!
- Coastal Watch Patrols
Join in with the patrols around the Ramparts (weather allowing - Soldier School Recruitment
Learn how soldiers enlisted during WW2, and try on some kit
- Anti‑Aircraft Gun Drills
See how soldiers would have responded to enemy aircraft
Timings – There are no set times as this is a unique living history experience, the re-enactors roam around the Fort interacting with visitors.
This living history experience is delivered in collaboration with local young re‑enactors of the Blighty to Berlin Living History Group, whose passion and knowledge help bring the era to life in a meaningful and engaging way.

Seating Provided: – There are seats all around the Fort if required while on site. The Re-enactors will be patrolling the Parade Ground and Ramparts levels.

Food and Drink: The Fort View Café will be open for the duration of this event.

Dogs: We are a dog-friendly museum. We ask that all dogs remain on short leads at all times. Please expect to see dogs in the Fort during your visit.

Wheelchair User Access: Nothe Fort is mostly wheelchair accessible and has a lift to all three levels.
