Hidden in Plain Sight:Cold War Preview Exhibition

This autumn, Nothe Fort opens Hidden in Plain Sight, a new exhibition exploring one of the Fort’s most fascinating and little-known stories.

Using the Fort’s nuclear bunker as its starting point, the exhibition uncovers the experiences of people whose lives were shaped by the Cold War. Through personal stories, photographs, film and newly uncovered evidence, it reveals how emergency planners, warning and monitoring volunteers, local communities and public authorities prepared for the possibility of nuclear conflict.

At its heart are the voices of people who planned, prepared, and protested during one of the most uncertain periods of modern history. Their stories reveal how global tensions were experienced much closer to home.

Presented as a special two-week Preview Exhibition, this is your chance to be among the first to explore the exhibition and share your thoughts.
