Nothe Fort has taken another important step forward in securing its future, with work continuing on the Rampart Raincoat Project, a major investment in the long-term care and preservation of one of Dorset’s most important historic sites.
The project has been made possible through significant investment from Arts Council England’s Museum Estate and Development Fund (MEND), Dorset Council, and the Garfield Weston Foundation. Together, their generous support is helping to ensure that Nothe Fort remains in excellent condition for future communities to enjoy, learn from, and be inspired by.
For more than 150 years, Nothe Fort has stood overlooking Weymouth Bay, serving first as a military defence structure and today as an award-winning museum, heritage and cultural venue, and a valued community asset.
The Rampart Raincoat Project is focused on protecting that legacy by addressing the long-term effects of water ingress and improving the Fort’s resilience against the challenges posed by the coastal environment.
