To be recognised as a national winner is an amazing feeling.

We are thrilled to have got to the finals Visit England Awards for Excellence Awards, and to have won Gold for Small Visitor Attraction is wonderful.

While Nothe Fort is very important to Weymouth’s tourism industry, it isn’t simply a tourist attraction. The site connects our community to the people who came before us, particularly those who served in the military, and we, as its custodians, have a responsibility to make the story of their lives accessible to our visitors and pass the fort on to the next generation as a well conserved and thriving entity. This award acknowledges that we are achieving those things to an exemplary level.

This award will make the Nothe Fort team, our visitors and our home town of Weymouth so proud.
