Standing With Giants Falklands Tribute is coming to Nothe Fort!
From 5 – 30 November 2025, Nothe Fort will open five days a week Wednesdays – Sundays, from 10am – 3pm for visitors to view this moving exhibition.
About Standing With Giants
Standing With Giants create large-scale remembrance art installations using recycled building materials and provide meaningful spaces for people to visit and reflect. Their ethos is to value life; to understand and appreciate why we have our freedom, and to remember and pay tribute to those who have fallen so we can live with the freedom we have today.
Standing With Giants is a charity, founded and led by Oxfordshire community artist Dan Barton.
Dan Barton, said:
“Standing With Giants have been overwhelmed by the amazing reactions from Veterans and families of the fallen who visit the installations and share their heartfelt stories with us.”
About the art installation
Standing With Giants: The Falklands Tribute
The Falklands Tribute represents 255 silhouetted life-size figures of Seafarers, Royal Marines, Army, and Airmen and 3 civilians who lost their lives during the 1982 war on The Falkland Islands with Argentina.
This and an identical display created which is currently in the Falkland Islands, were created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of liberation on June 14th, 2022, and have been seen on display at Thoresby Park, International Bomber Command and Royal armouries Fort Nelson.
These figures will be on display in and around the Fort’s Parade Ground, for visitors to walk amongst and reflect in remembrance.
Events Coordinator for Nothe Fort, Connie Jenkins-Teague said:
“Nothe Fort is honoured to host Standing With Giants: Falklands Tribute. We have been moved by all the support from community groups that have come forward to offer help in installing and stewarding this exhibition.
Our parade ground is the perfect environment to host this art installation, and we look forward to seeing visitors walking amongst the silhouettes and reflecting upon the figures.”
